From WordPress 2.0.4 to 2.1.
Over the weekend, I upgraded my weblog software from WordPress 2.0.4 to WordPress 2.1. This also meant upgrading MySQL from 3.23.58 to 4.1.21. I’m hoping that this upgrade will solve the problem of missing external pingbacks and trackbacks.
With any software upgrade (whether an operating system or an extensible (i.e. one that supports extensions, plugins, or the like) application like WordPress), you run the risk of breaking something. In this case, one of my WordPress plugins, Category Order 1.9.6, no longer works. So now my categories are back to their default alphabetical order. Maybe I’ll add numbers to the category names to force the order to be how I want it.
The upgrade did fix the trackback/pingback problem.
I thought of you when I did the upgrade; it’ll solve at least one other complaint you’ve had: the rich text editor seamlessly switches between marked-up and plain code versions, and seems to be much, much stronger than its predecessor.
