This must be the year to be open minded. I first tried LinkedIn in 10/2003 and then opted out in 02/2004 over privacy concerns. I also got requests to connect with people whom I didn’t know and had never met, which I considered to be the functional equivalent of s-p-a-m.

Since then, many folks have asked me to reconsider, so I have. Since many folks object to having others give their email address to LinkedIn, I’ve opted not to invite anyone from within LinkedIn. Instead, I’m inviting folks who know me to connect with me via my LinkedIn page:
