According to the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the cost of patent litigation increased 33% from 1995 to 1999 (by 17% for trademark litigation and by 19% for copyright litigation). Several insurance providers are providing IP infringement insurance (and other flavors) to help companies manage this risk.
