* Sidewalks For Acton – Public Statement #6

Erik J. Heels read the following prepared statement at the 2025-01-27 Acton Select Board meeting. Emphasis added.

Hello, Erik, E-R-I-K, Heels, H-E-E-L-S, 17 Forest Road.

I have a prepared statement to read. It will be my shortest yet.

I apologize that I am not able to attend in person today, but I am not feeling 100%, most likely because I (along with my neighbor Joe Ciampa) stood in the 20-degree weather for 2.5 hours two days ago (Saturday Jan 25, 2025) to hand out pro-SAFETY flyers at the DPW open house.

Today, our Change.org petition (Build Sidewalks On Forest Road For A Safer Acton (MA 01720)) passed the 300-supporter milestone. We have been advocating for a holistic approach to the proposed DPW building project, one that accounts for the SAFETY OF PEOPLE AND PETS as well as the overall SAFETY of Actonians. But at this late date, not only have sidewalks NOT been added to the DPW project, this issue has not been added to the Select Board’s agenda, despite multiple requests.

Please do for Robbins Park what you did for the neighbors of the North Acton Fire Station: include sidewalks. Please do not continue to ignore so many Acton voters on such an important SAFETY issue.

Erik Heels, 17 Forest Road, Actonian since 1995.
